Measles cases have been active in Western Australia. This highly infectious virus can lead to serious sickness in our communities.
AHCWA has developed a suite of resources to assist with preparing and responding to measles in your ACCHS.
- Measles ACCHS Clinics – Get Ready Checklist: this document includes a checklist for clinics to prepare for measles and a checklist to follow to respond to measles if you have a suspected case in your clinic. Clinic managers and/or SMOs can use these lists to make sure your clinic is ready for a measles outbreak in your town/community. You can also use the checklist as part of staff education, and it can be printed and kept at front reception to assist in responding to any suspected cases of measles.
- Measles Prevention Campaign – Poster and Social Tiles (found below): this poster can be displayed in clinic waiting rooms now, as a reminder for people to ask if they are up to date with measles vaccination. Social tiles can also be used by services now. Individual social tiles can be provided for you to use – just send us an email.
- Measles Response Campaign – Poster and Social Tiles (found below): this post can be displayed in clinic waiting rooms when measles cases have been detected in your region/town/community. Social tiles are also available, which include the message for people to call the clinic ahead of presenting to enable clinics to minimise exposure of suspected measles cases to other patients and staff.
