Newly formed Council of Aboriginal Services Western Australia appoints a Chief Executive Officer

Council of Aboriginal Services WA (CASWA) recently announced the appointment of James Christian PSM MPA as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

James commenced in his role on Monday, 9 October 2023. He brings over three decades of exceptional leadership experience in the Aboriginal community-controlled sector and Government, making him an invaluable addition to the organisation.

James Christian is a proud First Nations Australian from the Wiradjuri community in Central Western New South Wales, who has made Perth his home and his family. His deep connection to his heritage and his unwavering commitment to advancing the rights and well-being of Aboriginal communities across Australia have been at the forefront of his distinguished career.

Des Martin, the CEO of the Aboriginal Health Council of Western Australia, expressed confidence in James’s abilities and commitment to Indigenous rights, believing he will drive the necessary changes. Des Martin also welcomed the addition of a second Aboriginal Peak Body in Western Australia, looking forward to collaborating with CASWA to build consistency and momentum in addressing the disparities First Nations peoples face.
