AHCWA Annual Conference

As the peak body for 23 Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services in Western Australia, AHCWA is an evolving organisation that acts as a forum to lead the development of Aboriginal Health policy, influence and monitor performance across the health sector, advocate for and support community development and capacity building in Aboriginal communities throughout Western Australia.

Each year AHCWA hosts an annual West Australian Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Sector Conference, which is aimed at health care professionals working within the 23 Member Services, their Directors and those working more generally in Aboriginal Health throughout Australia. It is an opportunity for delegates to engage with their peers and learn about programs and services delivered in metropolitan, regional and remote communities. It is also an opportunity to hear from state and national government speakers and NACCHO to learn about future directions in funding and programs that relate to Aboriginal Health and the ACCH Sector. The day prior to the conference, AHCWA hosts both the annual Members’ Planning Day and Youth Conference. A Conference Dinner/Awards Ceremony is also held on the first night of the Conference with Member Service Awards being presented.

In 2023, the State Sector Conference will be held on Wednesday 29 March and Thursday 30 March and the Youth Conference on Monday 27 March, at the Esplanade Hotel in Fremantle, Western Australia.

The theme of the 2023 Conference is: “Our Future, Our Way” - We are the Leaders for our Communities".
