Elder Care Support Program

Elder Care Support Program

The Elder Care Support Program is a multi-pronged approach to better aged care services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

The program aims to increase the number of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people engaging with aged care through support in understanding and accessing the system, with a focus that more care should be delivered on Country.

Additionally, it aims to increase the number of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people working in aged care roles and increase reporting on the experiences of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander aged care consumers to NACCHO and governments.

The AHCWA ECSP team are supporting participating member services to attract, onboard and retain aged care Connector and Coordinator roles, and delivering a suite of training to these and other related staff. We are also performing sector mapping and gap analysis, establishing communities of practice, developing local level resources and reporting on advocacy issues to relevant bodies including NACCHO.
