AHCWA is looking for a passionate Sector Engagement Officer to join our Policy, Advocacy and Strategy Team. The primary responsibility of the position is focused on engaging metropolitan, regional and remote Aboriginal communities in national and state level policies that will affect the Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Sector, and impact the health and wellbeing of Aboriginal people and their communities in Western Australia.

An exciting opportunity for an experienced Policy Officer (Workforce) to join the Policy and Public Health team on a full time, permanent basis.

The Policy Officer - Workforce will report to the Policy and Strategy Manager and is accountable to the Executive Manager - Policy and Public Health. The role is responsible for: maintaining a view across national and state policy issues relating to workforce; providing policy advice on workforce issues; and, ensuring that AHCWA develops and leads innovative and effective policies, projects and practices to strengthen the Aboriginal health workforce.

 

This position will work closely with all AHCWA Work Units, AHCWA’s Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services (ACCHS); Regional Health Planning Forums and other key external stakeholders. The Policy Officer - Workforce will provide timely verbal advice and written submissions on national and state policy agendas specifically in relation to policies that will impact on the AHCWA and WA Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Sector workforce.

Opportunity

DYHSAC is seeking Casual Enrolled and Registered Nurses to join our dynamic team and work within the casual pool.

Key Responsibilities:

The primary responsibility of our Enrolled and Registered Nurses is to provide holistic and culturally appropriate services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families, individuals and community groups within DYSHAC.

Our Enrolled Nurses (EN) and Registered Nurses (RN) within DYHSAC assist in arranging and coordinating health care in line with best practice model of care for chronic disease and ensure health assessments are provided to clients.

To be considered, you must meet the following essential criteria:

  • Hold current registration with AHPRA as an EN or RN

  • Have experience working with Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander people or an understanding and appreciation of Aboriginal culture

  • Demonstrated understanding of the complexity of Aboriginal health issues

  • Experience in Chronic Disease Management of clients

  • Current Senior First Aid

  • Current WA Drivers Licence

  • WA National Police Clearance that is no older than 6 months

Registered Nurses must also meet the following essential criteria:

  • Have a minimum of 5 years nursing experience

  • Hold a current Immunisation Certificate

Sexual Health and Blood Borne Viruses Program Coordinator

The position is primarily responsible for providing expert sexual health and blood borne virus advice and support to Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services and key external stakeholders and partners such as Hepatitis WA and the WA AIDS Council with the aim of decreasing the incidence of STIs in Aboriginal peoples of Western Australia.

An exciting opportunity for an experienced project officer to join the Sexual Health and BBV’s program in a newly created role to support and empower Aboriginal youth across the state on STI’s and BBV’s.

 

The position is primarily responsible for coordinating an increase in testing and treatment in remote Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities for issues faced by Aboriginal Youth. The program is aimed at developing and delivering culturally appropriate community education, including peer educators, to increase health literacy and knowledge on STI and BBV prevention, improving clinical outcomes related to testing and treatment of STIs and BBVs, social and emotional wellbeing, drug and alcohol misuse and healthy relationships.

CQI Officer

Location: Newman

The Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) and Health Systems Officer is accountable to the Chief Executive Officer and is responsible for facilitating the implementation of all aspects of CQI and health systems activity throughout PAMS. The CQI Officer will work collaboratively with management and staff to strengthen PAMS CQI and health systems capacity with the intent to support improved service delivery and ultimately health outcomes for our clients.


Responsibilities of the role include:

Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI)

  • Provide organisational leadership around the application of CQI processes to all aspects of health service delivery

  • Provide support to the CEO or delegate to engage with the PAMS Board of Directors and Aboriginal community members to ensure community understanding of and involvement in CQI

  • Support the Management Team and staff to develop and implement CQI activity plans including working in collaboration with the Corporate, Quality and Compliance Officer for organisational level activities.

Health Information System Management

  • Function as the Systems Administrator for PAMS electronic Patient Information Management system, Communicare

  • Provide role specific Communicare training to all new employees.

  • Conduct regular systems audits to ensure user compliance with Communicare use rules.
